THE recent bomb threats in different areas in Pangasinan have alarmed the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office.

P/Capt. Renan dela Cruz said in an interview with iFM Dagupan that bomb threats from Feb. 12 to Feb. 19 were in Alaminos City, San Carlos City and in the towns of Mangaldan, Mangatarem, Bayambang and Lingayen.

These were also sent to Mangaldan National High School, Pangasinan National High School, Pangasinan State University, Malacañang National High School and offices like the Social Security System and PagIBIG.

Ito po ay very alarming kasi sunud-sunod po yung mga ginagawa nilang pagbibigay ng mensahe na may bomba sa iba’t-ibang bahagi dito sa ating lalawigan,” dela Cruz said.

He said that the message sender who is allegedly a Japanese but communicates in English alleged that bombs were planted in the government offices and schools and it could “explode anytime.”

P/ Col. Jeff Fanged, provincial police director, confirmed that inspection, paneling and assessment of the areas conducted by the Provincial Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit, yielded negative results.

“Yun nga po at good news po wala naman pong natagpuan na bomba dun sa mga lugar na nabanggit po,” he said.

He said they have coordinated with the Provincial Cyber Crime Action Team, equipped with high-technology equipment, to track down the source of the bomb threats.

Dela Cruz cited that violators of Presidential Decree 1727 or the malicious dissemination of false information and the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives or any other similar devices or means of destruction, are meted five years imprisonment and a fine of P40,0000.

He said they treat any bomb threat  “seriously” and  Col. Fanged has directed them to ensure with utmost priority the safety of every Pangasinense. (Eva Visperas)
