API, Abono proclaimed members of Congress
TWO homegrown party lists were among the 54 party lists proclaimed by the Commission on Elections Thursday as winners of the May 9 elections.
These are the newcomer Abante Pangasinan Ilokano (API) ranked 20th among all the party lists nationwide that run in the just concluded elections, while the Abono party list bagged the 43rd spot based on the result of the canvassing conducted by the Comelec.
API is not only a party list group but also a political party that fielded its candidates in Pangasinan in the just concluded election.
API was organized and founded by former Fifth District Congressman and former Governor Amado Espino Jr. But Michael Morden of Villasis is its first nominee. Espino is the second nominee.
On the other hand, Abono is presently represented in Congress by Conrado Estrella III, Abono’s founding chairman is businessman Rosendo So.
Both API and Abono are entitled to one seat each in Congress.
A third homegrown party list, Tulungan Tayo, with Dagupan City councilor Cisco Flores as its number one nominee, did not make it in this election. (Leonardo Micua)
