TRANSPORT BUSES BACK OUT

SUPPORTERS of LENI Robredo-KIKO Pangilinan from western Pangasinan and other parts of the province failed to attend the Pink grand rally in Dagupan when the buses they hired to transport them to the rally site suddenly backed out.

This was reported by the Pangasinan People’s Council in its Facebook post Thursday night (April 7), before the Friday rally scheduled at the CSI Parking Area and helipad in Lucao, Dagupan City and said the Land Transportation Office (LTO) threatened to cancel their franchises if they operate out of their franchises’ routes.

The group stated that it received word from volunteer organizations in western Pangasinan that the 10  buses they hired were threatened with revocation of their licenses if they bring members of the #Kakampinks to join Robredo’s People’s Rally the next day beyond their authorized routes.

The group, headed by former Dagupan City Councilor Liberato Reyna Sr. also said the tarpaulins put up by Robredo’s volunteers in many parts of the province were also removed.

Because of these incidents, the group asked local officials to respect the rights of Robredo’s volunteers as citizens and voters.

Corollary to this, LTO Regional Director Teofilo Guadiz Jr. in an interview said it is illegal for public utility vehicles to charge and collect fares on routes where the buses are not authorized to operate.

Guadiz was quoted by GMA’s Balitang Amianan reporter Russel Tenorio as saying: “Kapag private ‘yan, they should never be apprehended, kapag may LTO na gumawa niyan, you tell me and I will relieve the  person immediately.” (Leonardo Micua)
