Only 20 remaining active Covid cases, no deaths

WITH just 20 remaining active cases as of March 17 and with not a single death registered for the past week from March 11, the provincial government is optimistic that COVID-19 will just be an endemic in Pangasinan soon.

Still under Alert Level 1 till March 31, the data from Provincial Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed Pangasinan registered a seven-day daily average of three cases from March 11-17 from the seven-day daily average of five for the period March 4-10.

The zero death registered from March 11-17 was the first time since the pandemic began March 16, 2020 when no death was logged.

Records released by the PHO revealed that of the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan, 35 were are already COVID-19 free.

The 20 remaining active cases were in Alaminos City, Bayambang, Bugallon, Lingayen and Sta. Maria (two cases each) and in Balungao, Binmaley, Labrador, Malasiqui, Rosales, San Nicolas, Sto. Tomas and Urbiztondo (1 each).

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna de Guzman expressed optimism that COVID-19 will be an endemic disease in Pangasinan.

She said that in an endemic situation, the people will treat COVID-19 just like a seasonal flu. (Leonardo Micua)
