Zero case on Christmas Day

NETIZENS in Pangasinan were expressly awed by the provincial government’s successful campaign vs, COVID-19 pandemic.

This was gleaned from the hundreds of comments posted on social media after the Pangasinan Health Office reported zero COVID-19 case on Christmas Day, (December 25). It was the first time the province logged zero COVID case since the start of the pandemic on March 16, 2020.

That day (December 25), four patients also recovered, bringing the remaining active cases to 41 while there was also zero death.

With zero case logged, the number of active cases remained at 41 while the cumulative  number of persons stricken by COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic remained at 35,607; 34,345 patients recovered while the death toll was 1,221.=

The netizens that read the PHO monitoring report on December 25 initially thought that the zero case happened because laboratories administering RT-PCR tests were closed since it was Christmas Day.

But  the following day (December 26, which was a Sunday), PHO reported one new case and seven cases had recovered, reducing the active cases to 35, while there was still zero death.

But the zero case in Pangasinan on Christmas Day, was the biggest talk in the internet.

One Marlo Niebres posted: “0 case! Best Christmas gift. . . Take the vaccine and wear the mask” (Leonardo Micua)
