MEDIA PRACTITIONERS AS TERRORISTS, PROSTITUTES

LOCAL broadcast journalists were aghast and were one in expressing their disgust and contempt against Secretary Raul Lambino, Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon and CEZA Administrator and CEO, for labeling them as “terrorists” and “prostitutes” during his press conference last Saturday, January 15.

Janice Hidalgo of DWJE Radyo Pangasinan, expressed her dismay that ‘privileged’ people like Lambino could casually resort to name-calling if their opinions are opposed to his.

“We denounce the official statement of Secretary [Raul] Lambino against legitimate media organizations like us”, said Hidalgo.

Lambino called out specifically broadcasters Joel Balolong and Dante Cera of DWCM Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, Orly Navarro and Raul ‘Insyong’ Tamayo of DWIZ FM, and Tito Quinto Tamayo of Radyo Pangasinan for “spreading lies and fake news“ over his reported rape case.

Lambino said he is open to reconciliation; however, he will still be filing cases against them. “Patatawarin namin, pero mayroon din siyang pananagutan sa batas, dapat pagbayaran niya kung mayroon siyang atraso”, he said.

At presstime, broadcast journalists are waiting for the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) – Pangasinan chapter, to issue a statement on Lambino’s name-calling and threat to file cases against the five anchors of public affairs programs for being “irresponsible”.

For his part, Cera told The PUNCH, that as his reports will show, he was fair and aired both for and against reactions to the rape story published by the Manila Times, dated January 10, 2022 in his program ‘Firing Line’.

Lambino called for the press conference to clarify and deny the issues raised in the January 7 and January 11 Manila Times articles on the complaint, filed by Rowena Cuyos-Tabano before the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon.

At the prescon, he not only denied the existence of the complainant and her daughter but added former Mangaldan Mayor Bona Parayno was behind the malicious character assassination of his person.

Parayno in her own press conference vehemently denied Lambino’s allegations. (Ahikam Pasion)
