FOR ‘SIMBANG GABI’ TRADITION

TO enable Pangasinenses to observe the tradition of the “Simbang Gabi” or “Misa de Gallo”, Governor Amado Espino III issued an executive order adjusting the curfew in Pangasinan from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

The one-page Executive Order No. 0179-2021 was issued by the Governor on December 14, on the eve of “Simbang Gabi”, amending his earlier Executive Order No. 0178-2021 entitled “Implementing Guidelines on Alert Level 2 in the Province of Pangasinan” on November 17, 2021, which set the curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The governor said every December, Pangasinenses observe the religious and cultural tradition of celebrating “Simbang Gabi” or “Misa de Gallo” as early as 4 o’clock in the morning onward from December 16 to 24.

He said the province-wide curfew has to be amended to accommodate the celebration of “Simbang Gabi” by Pangasinenses in their respective places of worship.

All other provisions of E.O. 178-2021 not cited in E.O. 0179-2021 shall remain in force and effect. (Leonardo Micua)
