60% OF REGISTERED VOTERS

PANGASINAN will account for 60 percent of the 3,546,764 voting population in Region 1 while the three other provinces combine will only account for 40 percent.

This was bared by Commission on Elections Assistant Regional Director Reddy Balarbar, during a PRO 1 Kapihan at Star Plaza Hotel aired over IFM Dagupan on Tuesday, December 14.

Balarbar said based on the latest registration of voters, Pangasinan has a voting population of 2,096,936, dwarfing the total voting population of La Union, which is 538,730; followed by Ilocos Sur, 476,984 and Ilocos Norte, 434,114.

This explains why national candidates always include Pangasinan in their campaign sorties, he said.

He said there are 6,127 clustered precincts in Region1 in the coming May 9, 2022 election with Pangasinan accounting for 3,339; followed by Ilocos Sur, 1,007; La Union, 959; and Ilocos Norte, 827.

In sum, Region 1 has 5,373 voting centers and 1,196 are in Pangasinan, 650 in Ilocos Sur, 416 in La Union and 395 in Ilocos Norte. (Leonardo Micua)
