Only seven CoCs filed in Pangasinan on Oct. 1

ONLY seven candidates have so far filed their respective certificates of candidacy in Pangasinan since the Comelec offices opened at 8:00 a.m. on October 1. Up to 2:10 p. m. that day, two have so far filed their CoCs for congress and one for board member in the second district, and the fourth for councilor of Dagupan City.

But the earliest to file  before the Provincial Elections Office at the City Astrodome in Dagupan City was Movie  and Television Review Classification Board chairperson Rachel Arenas, who is returning to her old post as Representative of the Third District.

Arenas, running under the PDP Laban party, was accompanied by her mother, incumbent Rep. Baby Arenas who’s completing her third and final term of office.

Second to file was Fourth Rep. Christopher de Venecia who is running for reelection for a third term under the Lakas Muslim Christian Democrats party. His CoC form was hand-carried by his Chief of Staff, Atty. Evelyn Panlaqui.

At past 1:00 p.m. San Carlos City incumbent councilor Generoso Tulagan Jr. arrived to file his CoC for board member in the Third District of Pangasinan.

In Dagupan City, first to file his CoC was Jek Palaganas, 41 years old, who is running for councilor as an independent candidate  He listed his profession as a self-employed entrepreneur.

In Calasiao, Liga ng mga Barangay president Mamilyn Caramat was also the first to file her candidacy for mayor under the Nacionalista Party.

Caramat was joined by several supporters wearing green t-shirt in a convoy from her residence in Barangay Nalsian, where she is the barangay captain.

Caramat is the wife of Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. who is currently the police regional director in Caraga Region.

Former First District Rep. Jesus Celeste was also the first to file his candidacy for mayor of Sual town.

Celeste transferred residency last year from Bolinao to Sual for his mayoralty bid.

In Binmaley town, Mayor Simplicio Rosario who is on his third successive term filed his candidacy as vice mayor while his son, Liga ng mga Barangay President Jonas Rosario, will run as mayor. (Leonardo Micua/Eva Visperas)
