Comelec guarantees readiness for COC filing

THE provincial office of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has guaranteed seamless operations on aspiring candidates filing their certificates of candidacy (COC) from October 1 to October 8.

Atty. Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said numerous coordination meetings were made in collaboration with local government agencies to ensure the peace and order during the eight-day activity, including simulation exercises with personnel from the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) in all COMELEC offices.

Salas said two policemen are deployed to each municipal and city COMELEC offices while 25 police personnel are assigned to the provincial office.

Meanwhile, Salas urged the public to take advantage of the new three-week voter’s registration period from October 11 to October 30.

Long queues of registrants have been spotted in some local COMELEC offices, Dagupan City included, on Thursday, September 30.

During the extension period, COMELEC offices will be open only from 8 a.m. – 5 p. m., and offices will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays, except October 30, which coincides on a Saturday. (Ahikam Pasion)
