THE general community quarantine (GCQ) status in Urdaneta City that was implemented last August 27 was extended by the city government to last until Oct. 31, 2021.

City Mayor Julio Parayno issued Executive Order (EO) No. 18 extending the GCQ classification, effectively for the whole month of October.

“The city Inter-Agency Task Force, based on its risk assessment, recommended the transition for all barangays of the city coming from Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) effective Aug. 27, 2021 and will be extended until October 31, 2021,” Parayno said in the EO.

Under the EO, a market schedule per barangay is being implemented from 4:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to decongest the market place; curfew hour is from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. will also be observed; liquor ban is enforced and drinking liquor is allowed only inside house.

The new decontamination and disinfection schedule for public plaza, market and business establishments will be every Sunday 12 noon to 12 midnight. On this day, only pharmacies, drugstores and gasoline stations are allowed to open. Malls, grocery stores, restaurants and other establishments will be closed.

Parayno said persons below 15 years old, those with immunodeficiency, co-morbidities or other health risks are still not be allowed to go outside their homes, except when obtaining essential goods and services.

Parayno urged residents to observe minimum health and safety protocols to prevent further transmission of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the town of Mangaldan has reverted to GCQ with heightened restrictions effective Sept. 29 after its Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine status has lapsed on Sept. 28.

The order was based on the existing Provincial Executive Order No. 0101-2021 signed by Gov. Amado Espino III placing Pangasinan under GCQ with heightened restrictions from Sept. 8 to 30. (Eva Visperas/Jerick Pasiliao)
