Still more new COVID cases than recoveries

PANGASINAN’S PANDEMIC UPDATE

AFTER a short period of optimism, records of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) for the past seven days from June 4 to 10 show that the trend logging more new confirmed COVID-19 cases than the number of patients that recovered in Pangasinan continue.

In that period, there were 593 new confirmed cases and only 453 patients recovered and discharged from hospitals and LGU isolation facilities, or released from their home quarantine. Nine deaths were reported for the period.

This effectively raised the number of active cases now confined and isolated to 898 as of 6:00 p.m. on June 10 from 798 a week earlier on June 3, showing 140 more added cases.

However, PHO still does not see this development as a cause for alarm since the situation remains under control given the significant number of recoveries of COVID-19 patients because of effective treatment protocol of local health professionals.

The biggest spurt of cases occurred last June 7 when 187 patients were found positive for the virus. There were also 113 cases registered on June 9 and 97 on June 4. The lowest number of cases was registered on June 8 at 32; 44 on June 10; and 48 on June 5.

The biggest number of recoveries was logged on June 8 at 101. There were also 73 cases that recovered on June 10; 72 on June 4, 43 on June 5, 37 on June 4 and 36 on June 9.

In sum, rise and fall of the new confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to be erratic while the trend of recoveries has been steady.

The new entries hiked the total number of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan to 10,546, but 9,820 of which had recovered and 398 died.

Dagupan remains on top of the COVID-19 watchlist with 87 cases, followed by Alaminos City (61), Urdaneta City (55), Tayug (51), Lingayen (48), San Carlos City (38), Malasiqui (35), Binmaley (32), Asingan (31), Mangaldan (30), Villasis (27), Calasiao (26), San Fabian (21), Bayambang (19), Bugallon (19), Umingan (19) and Mangatarem (18) and Sta. Barbara (18).
