THE Lyceum Northwestern University Dukes outclassed the Universidad de Dagupan Stallions in a dominant fashion, 103-47, in one of the triple headers during the opening of the 1st Pangasinan Collegiate Basketball League, which reeled-of last November 15 at the Dagupan City People’s Astrodome.

In the same opener, the University of Luzon Golden Tigers mauled the WCC Skyhawks of Binalonan, 86-49, while the Philippine College of Science and Technology Topnotch of Calasiao blasted the Urdaneta City University, 105-53 in the same run-away fashion.

Seven colleges and universities in the province are participating, including the Pan Pacific University.

The PCBL will be disputed in a single-round robin, home-and-away games format, with a team hosting one play date in their school gymnasium.

Edilberto Abalos, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) regional director and Developmental Basketball League (DBL) regional chairman, said the tourney aims to highlight the provincial players, provide a platform to showcase and sharpen their skills and give exposure to teams with national aspirations.

“We’re honored to be the first to kick off the PCBL, and we’re also excited to the expansion of teams to unearth the best young talents from North Luzon,” he said. (Kim Gealogo)
