UL Taekwondo Team wins 14 gold, 2 silver

THE University of Luzon Taekwondo Team showcased a triumphant feat when it amassed 14 gold and two silver podium finishes during the recently held Private Schools Athletic Association Regional Games last March 13-15 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen.

The winning jins in Poomsae discipline where mastery of forms and techniques are displayed, were John Denesis Vinluan (gold, team category), Cystelle Anne Morga (2 gold, individual and team), Venice Ico (gold, team category; silver, individual), Miro Fernandez (silver, individual).

Meanwhile, the jins who harvested 10 golds each in Kyorugi discipline or sparring category were: Arnethea Posadas, Era Raejin Sarmiento, Maneth Glozel Vidal, Louella Jane Tubig, John Bert Yongco, Ronzjie Cancino, Marc Dhaven jimenez, Joshua Penoliar, Kim Jared Rancudo, and Earl Maynard Sarmiento.

Carl Labasan, UL Taekwondo head coach and trainer, said in an interview that members of the team will bank on their victorious regional stint to bolster their PRISAA Nationals bid.

The UL Taekwondo Team is set to represent Metro Dagupan in the upcoming PRISAA National Games slated on July 13-20, 2024 in Legazpi City. (Kim Gealogo)
