Lingayen wins 1st Ayudaman inter-town basketball tourney
THE Lingayen basketball team bagged the championship trophy of the 1st Ayudaman Distrito Dos Inter-Town Basketball Tournament in the Open Category in game 3 after defeating the Mangatarem team 110-99, in a do-or-die final tussle last September 3, at the Binmaley Gym.
Eight teams from the different towns of the Second District of Pangasinan: Binmaley, Basista, Bugallon, Mangatarem, Aguilar, Labrador, Urbiztondo and Lingayen, participated.
Lingayen again stopped Mangatarem in the Under 22 category, 100-90 last Thursday.
Lingayen swept the elimination round with a 16-0 unblemished record and booked its ticket for the finals. Coaches Michael Angelo Disini and Alexander Andrade mentored the team.
The Inter-town basketball tourney commenced last May 13 at Narciso Ramos Civic Centers in Lingayen under the direction of Cong. Mark Cojuangco and Second District mayors to promote basketball as an activity for aspiring amateur athletes to achieve sports excellence on and off the court. (Kim Gealogo)
