Councilor Fernandez, ‘2023 Most Outstanding SP Member’
DAGUPAN SP MINORITY LEADER
COUNCILOR Michael Fernandez, the minority floor leader of the Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), has been cited as the “2023 Most Outstanding Sangguniang Panlungsod Member” in the independent and component cities category in Pangasinan by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office.
This honor was conveyed in a letter dated September 21, 2023, signed by DILG Provincial Director Virgilio Sison and addressed to the Office of Mayor Belen Fernandez. Councilor Fernandez emerged as the provincial winner after competing against more than 40 other councilors from Dagupan, San Carlos, Urdaneta, and Alaminos cities.
Fernandez will advance to the regional level to compete for the title of Most Outstanding Councilor for independent and component cities in Region 1.
A seasoned legislator, Fernandez has a track record in government elective positions, having served as the chairman of the Sangguniang Kabataan, Barangay Captain of Barangay IV, and Liga ng Barangay chairman, in addition to his multiple terms as a regular member of the city council. His experience in local governance have contributed to his recognition as an outstanding councilor.
