‘Pop-up’ ice cream is in
IF you see a sky blue Volks Combi in Tondaligan Park, Dagupan City, chances are, that’s ‘Stay Stoked Ice Cream’ by Tia Chloe Simms.
Simms, 23, from Barangay Bonuan Binloc is originally from Melbourne, Australia. Her family migrated to Binloc 21 years ago. Thus, she and her brother had studied here.
Don’t be shy if this gracious Australian talks to you fluently in Pilipino. But don’t be surprised as well if she speaks Pangasinan well.
Simms’s ‘Stay Stoked Ice Cream’ is one of the small businesses that joined Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia’s Galila Arts Festival.
Her Combi was conspicuously parked at the MacArthur House area in West Central Elementary School on the second day of the Galila Arts Festival that featured Sarag Mi Art Exhibition: Panangidayew ed Kinen Bae Nong and on the third day for the live on-the-spot painting in Tondaligan Park.
Spectators lined-up to taste the different flavors of Simms’ ice cream and gave her a thumb-up sign.
Simms lauded De Venecia’s Baywalk project in Tondaligan because it encouraged many to come, not only for the beach but leisure walking or jogging and therefore, helpful to small businessmen like her do business in the area using the pop-up culture.
She has her Facebook page with the name of her business if people are interested to get her services for special occasions.
Simms said she hopes De Venecia can bring more similar projects like the Galila to the city that draws crowd. (Eva Visperas)
