MAYOR Belen Fernandez issued an executive order creating an executive committee tasked to prepare the year-long celebration and commemoration of Dagupan City’s 75th anniversary foundation.

In her Executive Order No. 12, series of 2022, Fernandez stated the city government must celebrate the founding anniversary throughout the year to commemorate how Dagupan City came about and how it would be in the coming years and a core committee must take charge of the preparations.

Fernandez named herself as chairwoman of the committee with the following as members: Atty. Gonzalo Duque, City Schools Superintendent Aguedo Fernandez, Councilor Jeslito Seen, City Information Officer Eva Visperas, City Health Officer Dr. Ophelia Rivera, Dr. Aurora Samson Reyna, president of the Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities-Pangasinan chapter; Atty. Edward Cham, president of the Pangasinan Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Inc; Jose Mariano Cuna, chairman, Board of Trustees of Universal Institute; and Ricardo “Rex” Catubig, founding president of Jayceeken.

The creation of the executive committee was suggested by Duque, columnist of the PUNCH, noting that the past city administration failed to do it when Dagupan observed its 75th year on June 20, 2022.  (Leonardo Micua)
