THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panglunsod congratulated Sophia Malaya Samonte, a native of Barangay Bonuan Boquig, for winning the bronze medal, kids category, as member of the Philippine team that competed in the recent annual world championship for performing arts held in Disneyland, Anaheim, California, USA.

In the resolution authored by Councilor Dennis Canto, the World  Championship for Performing Arts (WCIPA), is a prestigious event and the only official international competition program for secondary and up and coming performers and entertainers held annually and judged by Hollywood industry professionals.

The 25th edition of WCOPA, dubbed as the only Olympic-style talent competition, features roster of contestants with spectrum of talents across all ages, among carefully selected performers around the world.

The resolution described her as “the young pride of the city mounted the world stage and showcased her raw talent during the week-long festival in the United States” and serves “to inspire Dagupan’s youth to emulate and achieve greatness even at a young, tender age.” (Leonardo Micua)
