Lingayen re-elects Bataoil

LINGAYEN residents have spoken through their votes and re-elected their incumbent mayor, Leopoldo Bataoil.

Bataoil’s 31,194 votes beat former Mayor Josephina Castañeda’s 29,579 votes or a margin of 1,615 votes .

The Municipal Board of Canvassers, chaired by Commission on Elections (COMELEC) election officer Milette Lopez, proclaimed Bataoil and other newly elected officials, morning of May 10, 2022 after local election results were completed.

On his second term, Bataoil expressed his gratitude to Lingayenses who trusted the services he had so far rendered for the municipality.

“I accept with humility the peoples’ decision. I am thankful for those who continue to trust the kind of service that I have so far rendered. I am challenged to further improve as much as I’m able to, as it is clear that we cannot please everybody,” said Bataoil.

He also encouraged his constituents to support the constitutionally elected leaders and help the municipality to work towards protecting both the local and national interests, promote positive values, and ensure overall local and national development and security.

Likewise, Castañeda extended her congratulations to Bataoil and thanked everyone who helped, supported and believed in her during her fight for the mayoralty position.

Meanwhile, incumbent Councilor Mac Dexter Malicdem won the vice mayoralty with 33,679 votes.

Elected councilors are Jay Mark Kevin Crisostomo, Jolo Lopez, Rasel Cuaresma, Rod Morosi, Jasper Pasion, Jonathan Ramos, Doc Von Carlo Tiangson and Ricardo Ferrer. (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA)
