100 couples exchange “I dos” in Lingayen mass wedding
Newly married couples in mass wedding hosted by Lingayen government.
AMIDST the pandemic and before the year 2021 ended, some 100 couples exchanged “I dos” in a mass wedding in Lingayen on December 29.
The event, dubbed as Kasalang Bayan 2021 “Mga Pusong Pinag-isa sa Panahon ng Pandemya” held at the Lingayen Civic Center (LCC), was solemnized by Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil.
Vice Mayor Juday Vargas-Quiocho said the Kasalang Bayan held at the LCC is historical and memorable as it is the first mass wedding held in the area.
Joan Jude Lopez, municipal registrar, said under Republic Act 7160, the mayor, as the chief executive of the municipal government, shall exercise such powers and performs such duties and functions to solemnize marriages.
Bataoil, in his message, told the couples “This is a special day of celebration of forever for the couples”.
The brides wore white long gown while the grooms sported either barong tagalog or suit. All the couples wore their face masks and observed social distancing. (Eva Visperas)
