Tadina takes over as new PPPO director

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) has a new provincial director on Friday, November 5.

P/Col. Richmond Tadina will replace PCol. Ronald Gayo as acting provincial director.

Tadina, prior to becoming acting PD, he was chief of the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) Operations Division.

A native of San Fernando City in La Union province, but grew up in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Tadina is a true-blue Ilocano and a graduate of PNP Academy Batch 1998.

In an interview, Tadina said he was surprised by the order, but nevertheless, grateful.

Dapat usually January pa magkakaroon ng palitan kaya nabigla ako, pero nagpapasalamat ako at nabigyan tayo ng pagkakataon na mamuno sa Pangasinan police”, said Tadina.

He also vowed to solve the numerous shooting incidents in the province, and anti-criminality ops.

In the meantime, Tadina will focus on identifying potential election hotspots after November 15, when substitutions among candidates are done.

Meanwhile, Gayo, is assigned as the chief of staff of the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGroup).

Under Gayo’s stewardship, the Pangasinan PPO has accomplished:

  1. Conducted 806 anti-drug operations, arrested 877 drug personalities arrested, seized 846,526 grams of shabu and 17,472.377 grams of marijuana.
  2. 1,049 barangays are drug-cleared, leaving only 223 uncleared barangays.
  3. Conducted 18 ant-carnapping operations, arrested 14 suspects; recovered 19 assorted motor vehicles and five cases filed in court.
  4. Arrested 1 national-level most wanted person, 5 in the regional level, 77 in the provincial level, 69 in the city level, and 298 wanted persons in the municipal level.
  5. Neutralized four members of communist terror group (CTG) processed two surrenderees, arrested two suspects.
  6. Led 8 operations vs. illegal loggers, arrested 6 suspects, confiscated P296,288 worth of assorted lumber.
  7. Conducted 22 anti-illegal fishing operations, arrested 58 persons, confiscated P1,156,720 worth of illegally caught fish.
  8. Arrested and charged 3,894 persons in 974 illegal gambling operations.
  9. Seized 322 assorted firearms and ammunitions, 34 explosives recovered through police operations against loose firearms.
