MAYOR Belen didn’t have to worry about naming who the “enemies” of Dagupan City are.

Most Dagupeños are already aware of who’s who and what’s happening in the city government, particularly, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod. They know that it’s the 7 epaLiFes who are in control at the SP, rejecting and plotting against all programs of the Belen administration.

What the Dagupeños still don’t know is what Mayor Belen is going to do with the 7 epaLiFes who’ve been challenging her and her allies’ (in the city council) legal authority since 2022.

What City Legal Office Aurora Valle knows is all the 7 councilors, (Red Erfe-Mejia, Dada Reyna-Macalanda, Alfie Fernandez, Celia Chua-Lim, Alvin Coquia, Irene Lim-Acosta and Marilou Fernandez) can be suspended motu propio for six months by the Ombudsman if complaint is filed before the DILG.

What the 7 epaLiFes know is Mayor Belen will not dare file a complaint against them.

What the 7 epaLiFes don’t know is whether the electorate will believe their lies or not in 2025 elections.

What Mayor Belen doesn’t want Dagupeños to know is why she refuses to file complaints against the 7 epaLiFes and against city officials under the Brian Lim administration who committed graft and corruption.

What I don’t know is how the Belen administration will fare in 2025 elections if Mayor Belen is portrayed as a leader without political will.

What I don’t know is who the INC will support in 2025. Will it still support the 7 epaLiFes like it did in 2022 knowing how they plotted and acted against the interests of the people?

Hmmm… what do you know??

WHAT FATHERS DESERVE FROM MOTHERS – Millions of fathers around the world still don’t understand why their wives choose to express their appreciation for their husbands only on Fathers’ Day!  

First. Of all, the husbands truly deserve to be appreciated by their wives on Father’s Day because fathers shared their most valuable item (if not the only one) – their sperm that enabled them to bear cute babies.

For most wives (mothers), appreciation for fathers means not contradicting his political views, allowing him to control the TV remote, not paying for restaurant bill, not to ask him to do some household chores, not to remind him about the household tasks he didn’t do yesterday and some for the past 3 days, not to nag him about his looks, clothes and shoes, calling their children to greet their fathers on this special day, to prepare his favorite dish from breakfast to dinner (if no celebration in a restaurant with children).

Guys, let’s count our blessings even just for this one day of peace and bliss. Mind you, that’s for Father’s Day only, once a year only! Any further protests will lead to more needless conflicts.

PRIVACY ACT ON POLICE BLOTTER. Here’s an added clarification to the PNP region’s wrong interpretation of the Privacy Act, when applied to crime suspects.

The Privacy Act clearly states that only entries in police blotters will need permission of subjects complained about before they can be identified in news stories. It’s a reasonable provision because most entries in police blotters are not necessarily verified by the police. An entry could be a nuisance complaint or a payback action for a personal grievance.

But suspects identified and arrested by police operatives can and should be identified in media like what PDEA does! Suspects arrested in buy-bust drug operations, suspects in crimes committed against persons and properties should be identified.

So, media establishments are free to name suspects arrested in police operations contrary to impression of PNP Region 1.
