The 7 epaLiFes’ house is on fire

IT’S the end of the line for 7 worthless, completely discredited public servants of Dagupan City.

The garish blue-and-white painted palatial house of the 7 epaLiFes is on fire!

No, it was not the ruling of Regional Trial Court Judge Michael Israel, denying their prayer for preliminary injunction, that ignited the implosion but their contemptuous hubris and egotism.

Every nook and cranny in that house that provided shelter for the 7 harebrained opposition councilors’ devious agenda ever since they pledged to wear their disrespectful barkada uniforms inside the august hall.

All the Dagupeños who were made to suffer from the 7 epaLiFes’ condescending views, from the city hall employees who’ve been deprived of benefits due them, to the poorest whose welfare have been shelved, will be seen standing feeling incensed as they watch the 7 councilors’ pathetic hypocrisy, self-conceit and arrogance feed the blaze like fuel thrown into the fire.

The people they oppressed can hopefully begin to sigh with relief because nothing could save anything of value in the house.

When the 2025 election is done, they will find their palace completely razed to the ground, leaving no salvageable reputation and integrity with which to possibly restart their political careers in 2011.

GRIM LESSON. The 7 epaLiFes evidently thought they could teach the city a lesson on how voting should be done on any issue. Use “qualified, not simple majority”! Duh?

Well, their ploy boomeranged. Instead of demonstrating their legal prowess, the good judge’s ruling effectively kicked them in their butts, like the bratty bullies that they are.

But the judge’s studied lesson for the 7 epaLiFes ended there, pitifully.

I wish Judge Israel posed the question: “Who’s your legal adviser, by the way?”

Indeed, what will they think of next to redeem themselves? File a disqualification and disbarment case against the judge? I won’t be surprised if they do.

BAR FLUNKER. Not a few regular habitués in SP regular sessions noted that Councilor Red Erfe-Mejia was obviously taking cues and directions from someone. He kept looking and reading text messages each time he stood up to argue a point. His guiding light must have been a bar flunker once because the legal arguments he raised always made them simply look and sound arrogant, and little else.

Fortunately, their city prosecutor also saw through their shameless conduct and flawed arguments, and indicted him, Councilors Alfie Fernandez and Irene Lim-Acosta in the case filed against them, finally, by the VM Brayan Kua and the minority councilors.

Recall the legal argument submitted by Councilor Lim-Acosta in her petition for reconsideration defending her shouting “putang ina mo” directed at the presiding officer, VM Kua, during a session. It was the height of legal ignorance and impertinence.

No lawyer worth his ethics, would tell her that she can justify her foul and detestable language, unbecoming of an elected public official. But their phantom lawyer did. Worse, her barkada obviously thought it was a good idea for her, but not for Messrs. Red, Alfie, and Alvin, to do it. What a way to make a friend and ally look stupid.

Perhaps, the 7 epaLiFes can still seek refuge in their obnoxious conduct by publicly identifying the culprit behind their embarrassing setbacks in court, as in “Hindi kami yun, si kwan yun!” Never mind. That will never happen he-he.

What a pathetic image they portray today, cringing in shame in their ratholes!

Any rate, I expect 7 epaLiFes to be absent, with or without approved leave absences, this Tuesday’s regular session to further delay the passing of the resolutions for the Mother and Child Hospital and the supplemental budget, and to suspend approval of minutes of April 12 session.

Or I will be proven wrong. They will attend in full force, replete in their stirring show of unity – united we fall- and pull off an anti-climactic surprise by sponsoring the unconditional approval of the resolutions for the MC Hospital and the supplemental budget. Hmmm…. that’s a long shot!

If it happens, will it be another cause for celebration for the city hall?? Certainly not! Because the move would simply be an attempt to redeem a little of their lost, shredded integrity as public servants.

The week’s Tuesday session is a day to watch… with Mr. Erfe-Mejia constantly reading text messages from his ‘angel’.
