Two ‘ghost’ motorboats, not an isolated case – MBTF

THE discovery of two ‘ghost’ motor boats of the past Lim administration is not an isolated case as there are several more questionable transactions entered into by the past Lim administration.

In an interview, Mayor Belen Fernandez said there was the purchase of overpriced laptops, computer gadgets, multi-million peso feeding program that defrauded city’s funds and the purchase of CCTV cameras, some 70% of which were defective.

Fernandez said she discovered the missing motorboats when she directed Waste Management Division Chief Bernard Cabison to use the two motorboats purchased by the Lim administration only to be told there were no boats found in the inventory of properties and equipment conducted by Camilo Cayabyab, the new chief of the General Service Office.

In the investigation that followed both Cabison and former GSO chief Melchor Guiang, found out that their signatures were forged to justify the payment of the almost P1 million to a dummy corporation.

The discovery prompted both to file a complaint against former Mayor Brian Lim, Eva Daroy, then city accountant and Romelita Alcantara, then city treasurer and a certain Evangeline Doria of the Golden Vision Construction and Supply for misappropriation of public funds to the prejudice of public welfare and falsification of public documents.
