Grass fire razes Aguilar’s mountain

By April 14, 2024Inside News

A GRASS fire broke out and ravaged the mountains near Barangays Laoag and Manlocboc in Aguilar town in the afternoon of April 6.

Fire Inspector Jonathan De Vera, Aguilar Fire Station’s fire marshal, said the grass fire occurred far from the main road and was not accessible to fire trucks.

“All we could do was to monitor the extent of the fire because our engines can’t reach that far,” said De Vera.

The  fire raged on throughout the night and subsided the next day. BFP Aguilar reported no damage to properties.

Aguilar MDRRM Officer Nicasio Sison said that before the fire, the mountain was already denuded and only the cogon grasses that were teeming in were burned.

There were also traces of grass fire in the neighboring mountainous Barangay Salomague Sur in Bugallon. (Kim Gealogo)
