Adjusted school hours set in San Fabian 

THE Executive Order issued recently by San Fabian Mayor Marlyn Agbayani directs the implementation of adjusted school hours due to daily high index recorded in the province .

Under the adjusted schedule, classes will start from 7:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. from Monday to Friday. In the afternoon, learners will shift to modular distance learning while they are already in their respective homes,

The adjusted schedule was supposed to have started last April 8. However, DepEd declared the  holding of asynchronous classes on April 11. (Badz Agtalao)

Muslims gather in Mangaldan to celebrate Eid’l F’tr

MEMBERS of the Muslim community in Luzon gathered in Mangaldan on April 10 to celebrate Eid’l F’tr or the end of the Feast of Ramadan. Mayor Bona Fe Parayno wholeheartedly welcomed them to Mangaldan.

President Marcos had declared April 10 a special non-working public holiday all over the country in observance of the Eid’L Fitr. An Islamic community adviser told IFM Dagupan that more Muslims participated in abstinence in observance of Ramadan this year than last year. (Mark Espinoza)

DOST introduces “Tubig Talino” 

THE regional office of the Food and Nutrition Research Unit of the Department of Science and Technology introduced recently “Tubig Talino” amid the public appeal of Health authorities to drink plenty for water during the current hot summer to prevent heat cramps and heat stroke. “Tubig Talino” is rich in iodine that could sharpen one’s mind, aside from its being clean and safe to drink.

It is already being used in different health and community projects of DOST Region 1 and is recommended that it be included in nutrition intervention programs and among commodities for disasters relief packs. (Badz Agtalao)

Pentavalent Vaccine for pertussis arriving yet 

THE Department of Health expressed optimism that the three million Pentavalent vaccine for its use in the fight against pertussis scheduled to arrive in June will arrive in the country earlier.

DOH advised local government units that have Pantavalent vaccines in stock to use these up before the new stocks arrive.

In Pangasinan, the Provincial Health Office reported three cases of pertussis. A suspected pertussis case was recorded in Dagupan, although this has yet to be confirmed clinically. (Mark Espinoza)

200,000 trees, 100,000 mangroves planted—Guico  

THE provincial government reported that 200,000 different species of forest, fruit and culinary trees, including 100,000 different kinds of mangrove seedlings that already planted in different areas of the province.

This was bared by Gov. Ramon Guico III in his State of the Province Address last April 5 confirming that these are all parts of the Climate Change Action Plan for Calendar Year 2024-2030 to address the effects of climate change in the province. He said the province targets to double the number of trees and mangroves  that were planted last year under the provincial government’s Green  Canopy program. (Badz  Agtalao)

3 hurt in motorcycle, e-motorcycle collision 

THREE persons were hurt when a motorcycle and a three-wheeled electric motorcycle collided along the San Manuel-Binalonan provincial road in Barangay Gueset Sur in San Manuel town.

The motorcycle rider, Jomar Tobias, 38, sustained abrasions in his body and face. While his 14-year-old back rider was also hurt. The 60-year-old driver of the e-motorcycle was also hurt all three had to be rushed to a local hospital.  The police said that medico-legal investigation on Tobias showed he was drunk when he was driving his motorcycle.
