THE Holy Week may have ended, but the period for penitence of Pangasinenses will still continue.

This, after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that the warm dry season has only just begun with easterlies or warm air from the Pacific Ocean entering the Philippines.

In a radio interview on Monday, PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the easterlies will bring dry and humid weather to the country, including Pangasinan and will only peak in the month of May .

Mas iinit pa itong nararanasan natin, asahan natin iyan”, he said but does not remove the possibility of rains during the late afternoon.

Considering the water cycle, he said that the more water evaporates, then the higher the chance that cumulonimbus clouds may form. Cumulonimbus clouds are also called rain clouds.

Dagupan City, one of the topnotchers on high heat index, is expected to sizzle further.

Individuals working outside are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and stay cool as frequently as possible. “Kahit gabi, magiging maalinsangan”, he said.

He said the hot summer season is aggravated by the El Niño  “Pagkatapos nito, magta-transition na tayo sa Habagat”, he said, emphasizing the brevity of the country’s dry season.

This, however, is not in conflict with the ongoing El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to linger until the 3rd quarter of the year.  (Ahikam Pasion)
