Dagupeño rider hit by participant, dies

WHAT should have been another great day for Boss Ironman Challenge, passing thru Pangasinan, ended in tragedy  when one of the participants in the motorcycle endurance challenge hit a Dagupeño rider traversing the national road in Barangay Bonuan Boquig.

Victim Dexter Dizo, 33, a resident of barangay in Dagupan City, was on his way home riding his motorcycle from a drinking spree with friends when he was hit by one of the participants of the Boss Ironman challenge.

His family, however, claimed he only went out to buy a cigarette and he was not drunk.

He died on the spot after sustaining critical injuries, bloodied head, and broken bones.

Dizo’s family received a P100-k financial support from the participant.

The Boss Ironman Motorcycle Challenge management also pledged support to the victim’s families, particularly, his two orphaned sons.

While the motorcycle challenge became a spectacle along its routes, seeing hundreds of riders moving as one, it also has resulted in numerous complaints and concerns among from netizens and neighborhoods for the risks it poses to residents. (Ahikam Pasion)
