THE implementation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)’s Risk Resiliency Program in Region I, from February to June this year, will benefit families in San Carlos City, Urbiztondo, Mabini, Burgos, and Agno who are considered poor, and eligible for the cash-for-work and cash-for-training program.

According to DSWD-I Disaster Response Management Division Chief Maricel Caleja, there are 9,978 families from 20 towns and cities in the region whom DSWD need help to cope with the impact of the El Niño phenomenon.

The beneficiaries will be paid P435 daily for 20 days: 16 days will be allotted for work, while four days will be dedicated for skills training.

Caleja said the beneficiaries were chosen based on the climate outlook study of local state weather bureau PAGASA, and identified by the local governments during the third assessment of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR). (Ahikam Pasion)
