A NEW traffic rerouting scheme was temporarily effected by the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) after DPWH’s contractors simultaneously accelerated the pace of construction of their respective projects on major streets of Dagupan beginning January 22.

POSO chief Arvin Decano said the new rerouting schemes are :

1. PUJs and private vehicles from Calasiao proceeding to A.B.Fernandez Ave. are directed to Perez Blvd and Herrero Street, then left turn to Quintos Bridge. To return to Calasiao, both jeepneys and cars must pass Perez Boulevard and turn right to Perez Market street towards Mayombo Road.

  1. The PUJs from San Carlos City, Bayambang, Malasiqui and Urbiztondo take the Malued Road to Perez Boulevard, to Rizal Street, A,B. Fernandez Avenue. Burgos Street; To exit Dagupan, they take Perez Blvd then turn right to Malued Road.
  2. All other PUJs from outside Dagupan cannot enter the one-lane A.B. Fernandez Avenue while the Downtown jeepneys take their usual route.
  3. Only the Bonuan-bound PUJs and private vehicles will be allowed to pass through the one-lane-one way Arellano Street.

Mayor Belen Fernandez earlier explained that the move to limit the number of vehicles entering roads where construction works are ongoing is to enable contractors to rush the completion of their projects per the respective deadlines given them by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
