FOR 2025 MIDTERM ELECTIONS

THE provincial elections office targets to register additional 30,000 to 50,000 new voters in Pangasinan when the registration for voters resume on February 12-September 30 this year in preparation for the mid-term election in May 2024 and the Barangay and SK elections in December 2024.

Provincial Elections Officer Marino Salas called on first time voters or those who want to activate their registration to register at any city and municipal election offices and in any satellite registration sites that will reach even the barangays, shopping malls and schools and universities.

He told the Pantongtongan Tayo program of PIA Pangasinan last week that Pangasinan has a voting population of 2,156,000 who registered for the last Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), making Pangasinan the third biggest voting province after Cebu and Cavite.

Salas said during the resumption of the voters registration, the Comelec offices in cities of Dagupan, San Carlos, Urdaneta and Alaminos cities as well as in Lingayen, will conduct the Registration Anywhere Program (RAP) to enable unregistered voters to register where they intend to cast their votes.

Meanwhile, he warned that Comelec has a technology that can easily detect double-registrants through their registered biometrics.

All Comelec offices will be opened in October to receive the certificates of candidacy of prospective candidates for the 2025 mid-term election. (Leonardo Micua/Ahikam Pasion)
