Calasiao pays homage to Mayor Mamilyn Caramat
FIRST DEATH ANNIVERSARY
ON the first death anniversary commemoration of former Calasiao Mayor Mamilyn Caramat, the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) paid tribute to her in a resolution adopted by the Liga ng mga Barangay led by its president, Patrick Caramat, her son
The resolution, titled “Commemorating and expressing profound gratitude, sincere appreciation, and commendation to the late mayor for her significant contributions through invaluable and meritorious service as municipal mayor of Calasiao from July 2022 to January 2023,” was unanimously approved by the SB members during their regular session on January 8, 2024.
Recalling Mayor Caramat’s passing on January 8, 2023, surrounded by her family, including her husband Police M/Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. and children Kimberly Anne and Patrick, the resolution highlighted her unopposed victories as barangay captain of Nalsian and president of Liga ng mga Barangay
Her tenure as mayor from May 2022 to January 2023 was marked by “utmost passion and dedication,” the resolution stated.
It not only underscore Mayor Caramat’s impact on Calasiao, citing her vision and unique leadership style encapsulated in the slogan “Arangkada Calasiao” but acknowledged her role as well in unifying the local government and fostering a commitment to provide the best public service.
Vice Mayor Nestor Gabrillo, presiding officer of the Sangguniang Bayan, cited the timeliness and significance of the resolution.
The session marked the first attendance of Liga President Patrick Caramat, who reflected on his previous role as municipal administrator during his mother’s mayoral term.
In an interview, Caramat expressed mixed emotions about his return to the legislative department, the sentimental significance of starting his role as an ex-officio member on the anniversary of his mother’s death.
He shared a promise he made to fulfill a commitment that she made to the residents of Barangay Nalsian – to initiate the cementing of the barangay’s alleys.
Asked if it will be funded by barangay funds, he smiled and said, “Basta it’s for the people, from our family.” (Eva Visperas)
