Watch out for ‘Hanna’ when ‘Goring’ leaves – PAGASA

By September 3, 2023Inside News

PANGASINAN can expect more rains this week due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) that continues to blow on the western seaboard of the country even as ‘Goring’ was already beginning to leave the PH jurisdiction on August 31.

This was bared by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) for this week’s weather outlook.

“Pag-ulan, asahan sa Pangasinan dahil sa habagat,” said Gener Quitlong, weather specialist of the PAGASA Agno River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (ARBFFWC).

Quitlong said Goring has not completely left the PH area of responsibility because of

high pressure area emanating from Japan, South Korea and the West Philippine Sea indicating that a tropical depression may be forming.

He said once Goring is out of PAR, Typhoon “Hanna” can be expected to enter the country.

Meanwhile, he downplayed the Fujiwara effect that can cause destruction in PH seas since the distance is way too far.

He added that the level of water of the San Roque Dam remains below the normal level but as soon as the water level in Ambuklao Dam reaches above normal level, the excess water will be absorbed by San Roque Dam. (Ahikam Pasion)
