DOST to implement CEST program in Dagupan’s 3 sitios
RESIDENTS of three remote sitios of Dagupan City will be the beneficiaries of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST), a national program running for several years being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
The memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by Mayor Belen Fernandez with DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Sancho Mabborang, DOST OIC Regional Director Teresita Tabaog and representatives of partner agencies listed Sitio Tokoc in Barangay Lucao; Talaib in Calmay; and Guibang in Pantal as beneficiaries.
Vice Governor Mark Lambino signed the MOA in behalf of Pangasinan while Atty. Gerald Tabadero, representing Rep. Christopher de Venecia, signed in behalf of the Fourth District.
CEST seeks to empower the most economically challenged communities and improve the quality of life of their residents through science and technology.
Mabborang said projects to be implemented under the CEST include health and sanitation, water sanitation, basic education and literacy, economic enterprise development, and disaster risk reduction management and climate change adaptation to help their communities.
Mayor Fernandez thanked DOST for extending its program to Dagupan: “I join you and all the partners in this collaborative effort because this program seeks to reach out to those who have long been left behind.” (Leonardo Micua)
