DOH cites Dagupan for achieving 30% booster vax target

THE Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Region I commended the Dagupan City LGU under the administration of Mayor Belen Fernandez for exceeding its 30-percent booster vaccination target during her first 100 days as city mayor.

This was bared by Dr. Paula Paz Sydiongco, DOH-CHD 1 Regional Director, in a press conference.

Sydiongco said the 30% booster coverage was mandated by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to all local governments.

She said Dagupan City achieved a 34-percent booster vaccination rate in addition to the 94-percent vaccination rate among in senior citizens, and the 123.4% total vaccination for primary doses in Dagupan City.

She credited the city’s accomplishment to its barangay-based approach.

“Sa tulong ito ng vaccination team ng Dagupan City Health Office at DOH, pati mga private sector nakikinabang na rin dahil ang mga malls ay pumayag na maging vaccination site”, Sydiongco added.

Dagupan integrated its vaccination program in all official city activities including the city’s first drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination area to drivers and passengers of PUV and private vehicles.

In an earlier interview, Fernandez said the various activities was aimed at faster and more accessible vaccination in support of the PinasLakas COVID-19 Vaccination of the DOH.

Sydiongo is optimistic that Dagupan will achieve its 100-percent booster rate  soon. (Ahikam Pasion)
