THE Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO) recorded only 1,822 dengue cases from January 1 to August 29 this year, compared to last year’s 3,919 or 53 percent lower than last year.

At the same time, Dr. Anna de Guzman, PHO Chief, said the month of July recorded the most number of dengue cases at 690.

Children from 10 to 14-year-old bracket have recorded the highest dengue cases.

Unfortunately, three individuals died this year. The latest fatality was a 41-year-old man from San Quintin town.

De Guzman attributed the lower number of cases to higher awareness and prevention programs.

Special lanes for dengue cases were also added to provincial government-run hospitals.

Meanwhile, the top towns and cities being monitored due to concentration of dengue cases are San Carlos City (204), Malasiqui (129), Urdaneta City (117), Sta. Barbara (88), Calasiao (83), Lingayen (79), Alaminos City (71), Binmaley, (64), and Villasis (53). (Ahikam Pasion)
