DOH: 87% of region’s eligible population fully vaxxed

THE Department of Health–Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) in Region 1 said 87 percent of the total eligible population in the region have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Dr. Rheuel Bobis, CHD focal person for Covid-19, reported that as of August 14:

  • 3,756,987 out of 4,318,377 individuals have received their full jabs.
  • 84 % of the A2 category (senior citizens) have been fully vaxxed
  • 44 % percent of the pedia group (5 to 11 years old), also received two doses.

Last week, DOH-CHD 1 recorded 5,186 newly-vaxxed individuals, while 34,695 received their booster shots. In sum, only 26.5 percent, or 1,005,530 of the 3.7 million fully jabbed people received their boosters.

According to Robis, the number is still low.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in the region spiked to 1,002, where average daily cases were pegged at 143, or 8.4% higher compared to July 31 to August 6 monitoring. (CIO)
