SIX days before the elections of May 9, Lakad Pangasinan was organized and held in Dagupan City in the early morning of May 3 to promote a Clean, Honest, Accurate, Meaningful and Peaceful Elections 2022.

It was participated in by student volunteers of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPRCV) from the different vicariate of the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan and by police personnel from the Dagupan City Police Station who will be deployed and safeguard the balloting in the 29 voting centers of Dagupan City on May 9.

Started at 6:30 p.m. in front of the St. John the Evangelist Metropolitan Cathedral, the walk made a round of Dagupan’s downtown that culminated at the cathedral for a mass.

Father Stephen Espinoza, press coordinator of PPCRV, said the organizers invited local politicians to join the event but not one participated.

He was also dismayed by the shameful malpractices particularly, the culture of vote-buying and vote-selling which have become a practice during every election in the Philippines.

He called on people to file verified complaints before the Comelec against persons who were buying voters or those selling their votes. (Leonardo Micua)
