460 personnel to help secure elections in region

THE Police Regional Office recently deployed 460 security forces for election duties in the region’s four provinces during the May 9 local and National elections.

This was confirmed by Police Regional Office 1 Director Westrimundo Obinque during the Simultaneous Multi-Agency Send-Off Ceremony of the security forces in Camp General Oscar Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union on May 4.

Comprising the contingent are 390 from the PRO1 Regional Headquarters, 40 from the Philippine Coast Guard, and 30 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines  (AFP).

The security forces, together with their mobility assets and logistics, were turned over to the Commission on Election to complement the region’s total strength for the Secure, Accurate, Free and Fair Elections 2022.

The contingent will form part of the Quick Reaction Teams and the Regional Reactionary Standby Support Force to safeguard every electorate, polling centers, and election paraphernalia to ensure credible, peaceful and orderly conduct of elections. (Leonardo Micua)
