A five-year-old boy drowned in Parongking River in Barangay San Miguel in Calasiao town last May 3.

Jhaymar Guardiana, a resident of the area, was last seen alive playing with other children noontime that day.

He failed to return home until 7:00 p.m. prompting his grandfather Nicomedes Guardiana Sr, to look for him in the riverbank across their residence where the child used to play.

Nicomedes saw Jhaymar’s slippers that led him to search the area and recovered the boy under the water.

He was brought to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City but was declared dead on arrival. (Eva Visperas)
