Dagupan, Pangasinan among 22 areas under COVID monitoring

DAGUPAN City and Pangasinan are among the 22 areas outside Metro Manila being closely monitored for their levels of COVID infection, Malacañang said on Wednesday evening.

This was bared in a press briefing by acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles, who said national Inter-Agency Task Force are already closely coordinating with their regional IATF counterparts on updates on statistics and data amid the surge of infection amid the Omicron contagion.

As of January 25, 2022 monitoring, Dagupan City recorded 603 active cases, the province of Pangasinan logged 2,131 active cases.

The Ilocos Center for Health Development recorded 107,860 active cases throughout the region.

Aside from Dagupan City, Pangasinan and the Ilocos Region, Nograles said the following areas are also being closely monitored: Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region,Baguio City, Cebu Province,  Cebu City, Lapu-lapu City, Mandaue City, Iloilo Province, Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, General Santos City, Ormoc City, Naga City, Western Samar, Tacloban City, Biliran and Zamboanga del Sur.

Nograles recommended hospital bed capacities for COVID-19 patients be increased to prevent their respective health care utilization rate from exceeding 70 percent.

Meanwhile, the national government plans to deploy telemedicine assistance services should cases continue to rise. (Ahikam Pasion)
