THERE was no security problem that occurred or needed special attention during the last day of withdrawal and substitution of candidates for the May 2022 national and local elections on November 15 in the entire Region 1.

P/Brigadier Emmanuel Peralta, police Region 1 director, said this was made possible through the close coordination between the PNP and other law enforcement agencies.

“We cannot control the thoughts so all that we could do was to take security measures”, Peralta said, adding that it was limited to deploying policemen to man and secure Commission on Elections offices.“

We are grateful that no untoward incident happened,” he added and lauded PRO 1 personnel for making the event successful and orderly. (Leonardo Micua)
