FORMER Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Calabarzon Director Juvenal B. Azurin filed his certificate of candidacy as mayor of San Fabian town on Thursday, October 7.

He is running under the Aksyon Demokratiko Party and will support Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso’s presidential bid.

Azurin headed the anti-drug operations in Cavite, that yielded P1.55 billion worth of shabu on September 9.

He is the first cousin of P/BGen Rodolfo Azurin Jr., both graduates of the Philippine Military Academy.

Azurin, formerly one of the 54 junior officers linked to the 2003 Oakwood mutiny, said his filing of a CoC for mayor is in answer to the call of his constituents in San Fabian.

In a phone interview, Azurin said since his assignment to other places as regional director, it made him realize that San Fabian’s development has been very slow.

“Nakukulangan ako sa serbisyong nakikita ko sa bayan. Napag-iiwanan na ang bayan natin”, he said.

Azurin’s ten-point agenda includes health awareness and protection, tourism, self-sufficiency, and economic investments. (Ahikam Pasion)
