NATIONAL Security Council Adviser and Director General Hermogenes Esperon Jr assured communities in the region of continued safety and order amid the alleged terror threat in six Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines.

In an online Kapihan sa Ilocos of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 1 on Wednesday, Esperon allayed fears of any possible terrorism-related activities.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry had warned the citizens in the region particularly those in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar about a possible terroristic act.

He suspected that source could only possibly come from the Taliban in Afghanistan to make its presence felt in the region.

Esperon said the country has the capacity to pre-empt possible attacks because the Philippines has combined security forces and Armed Forces of the Philippines have long been prepared for any possible threat of violence in the country. (Jerick Pasilaio)
