Dagupan City logs first ‘Delta’ case

DAGUPAN City recorded its first case of COVID-19-Delta variant involving a 35-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia who arrived in Manila on Jul. 25, 2021.

This was confirmed by the city information office last Sunday, August 29.

The patient arrived in Dagupan last August 11 and brought to one of the city’s isolation centers was made to take a second RT-PCR test on August 12.  The patient took his first RT-PCR test on July 31.
But before the result of the genome sequencing test that showed he tested positive of COVID-19-Delta variant, the patient was discharged from the isolation facility on August 18 prior to the release of the genome sequencing test that turned out to be positive.

The patient was reportedly released because his initial isolation of more than 10 days and was safe to conclude he didn’t have any infection.

The patient, together with his immediate family members, were made to take the RT-PCR test on August 30. (Jerick Pasiliao)
