Pisay Ilocos opens applications for Grades 8 & 9
THE Philippine Science High School System – Ilocos Region Campus (PSHS-IRC) opened its doors to aspiring students in Grades 8 and 9 last Tuesday, June 15.
Ronnalee Orteza, PSHS-IRC campus director, said eleven slots were opened to Grade 8 students, while open slots for Grade 9 have not been determined.
To be eligible for the lateral admission, the applicant should be a Filipino citizen with no pending application as immigrant to any foreign country; should belong to the upper 5% of his class, or should have a grade of 85% above in all subjects, and should have at least a Very Satisfactory (VS) character rating.
Applicants are required to take the Lateral Admission Qualifying Exam (LAQE) consisting of three subjects, namely Mathematics, Science, and Communication Arts (English).
The application form can be downloaded at https://www.pshs.edu.ph/. A certification from parents with no pending application for immigration in any foreign country, certification from the school presently enrolled in, a photocopy of the student’s report card with the original copy brought for verification, and two 1×1 photos are required. .
A P300 non-refundable fee is also required for processing of the documents.
The forms should be submitted to JENYFER C. RABANG, Campus Registrar, Philippine Science High School Ilocos Region Campus San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur.
The submission deadline is on July 30, 2021, while the examination will be held online on August 24. Filtered applicants will be notified of their eligibility to take the LAQE through an e-mail to be sent by the PSHS-IRC.
Scholars will enjoy the free tuition fee, free loan on textbooks, and monthly stipend plus living allowance ranging from P500 to P4,000, depending on the scholarship awarded.
The PSHS-Ilocos Region Campus is the only campus out of the System’s 16 campuses in the entire country with 100% online class capability. Some campuses adopted modular learning, and other forms of blended learning schemes. (Ahikam Pasion)
