Cops test for COVID twice weekly

THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) has required its personnel to submit to reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test twice a week to monitor and check COVID-19 infection among the police personnel in the province.

“We  have to be tested at least twice a week,” PPPO spokesperson Maj. Arturo Melchor Jr said.

Melchor said that as of Apr. 27, 35 police officers have already tested positive.

“Our active cases are assigned in 17 towns,” he said, adding that most of them are asymptomatic and currently recovering in different isolation facilities.

Melchor added that as frontliners, policemen are exposed to possible infection, hence the need to closely monitor and safeguard their health.

Meanwhile, he said only virtual meetings and conferences between and among officers are being done to prevent the transmission of the virus. (Jerick Pasiliao)
