BANI Mayor Gwen Palafox-Yamamoto recently tested positive for COVID-19.

In her official Facebook page, Yamamoto said it was on the night of May 3 when the result of her RT-PCR test showed she was positive of the virus.

She said it’s been a year that she’s ensuring the safety of Banians. “In our daily act of helping the people and in doing our task, we expect that we are not COVID-proof. No matter how careful we are, we can still be infected,” she added.

The mayor is currently under isolation and among the symptoms she is suffering from are loss of taste and sore throat.

Yamamoto said she expects the more crucial days of her sickness to come and seeks strength from prayers and thanks her constituents who are responding to her with prayers for her recovery.

She reminded townmates that “COVID is real” and advised them to wear face masks and wash hands frequently. (Eva Visperas)
