Two cousins drown in Lingayen beach
A 12-year-old boy and his 30-year-old cousin, drowned at the Lingayen beach in Barangay Estanza on Dec. 20.
Matthew Ace Feralca and his elder cousin Jennifer Peralta, both residents of Barangay Estanza this town, were declared dead on arrival at the Jesus Nazarene Hospital and Lingayen District Hospital respectively where they were rushed.
Matthew’s brother, Matt Ivan, 9, who nearly drowned was also rushed to a hospital and in stable condition.
The victims arrived at the beach with their grandmother Zenaida Feralca.
The cousins (Jennifer, Matthew Ace and Matt Ivan) immediately rushed to the beach to swim but they were swept away by strong undercurrent
According to Zenaida, she managed to pull in Jennifer and Matthew Ace while Matt Ivan was helped to the shore by a concerned citizen.
Jennifer Peralta was brought by responding members of Lingayen Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to the Lingayen District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.. (Eva Visperas)
